Charles Rupert Tsua, a qin player of the London Youlan Qin Society, was invited to play a concert at the Confucius Institute, Turin, Italy. This concert followed the successful guqin and pipa recitals and lectures given there by Cheng Yu in November 2010. The concert was divided into themed parts entitled Wind, Water, Earth and Fire. Charles wore the robes of a Han dynasty scholar, and the performance was very well received.

The internationally renowned virtuoso Cheng Yu performs a selection of pieces for the Chinese guqin (seven-stringed 'ancient zither'), demonstrating the music's characteristically sublime, delicate and meditative qualities. She is joined by Dennis Lee on the xiao (vertical bamboo flute) for some pieces.

The UK Chinese Ensemble has teamed up with the Essex County Council music service to provide initial training for musicians and music tutors to introduce and teach Chinese music in schools.
