Introduction

This, the 72nd meeting of the London Youlan Qin Society, was held in the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

Music

The following music was played:

  1. Gufeng Cao 鼓风操 (Song in an Ancient Style), played by Charles Tsua
  2. Meihua San Nong 梅花三弄 (Three Variations on the Plum Blossom), played by Cheng Yu
  3. Pei Lan 佩兰 (Admiring the Orchid), played by Julian Joseph
  4. Liang Xiao Yin 良宵引 (Prelude for a Pleasant Evening), played by Ashley Guan
  5. Yangguan San Die 阳关三叠 Variations on the Yang Pass Theme), played by Charles Tsua (guqin) and Dennis Lee (xiao)
  6. Guan Shan Yue 关山月 (Moon over the Mountain Pass), played by Charles Tsua (guqin), Cheng Yu pipa and Dennis Lee (xiao)
  7. Yueren Ge 越人歌 (Song of the Yue Boatman), played by Dennis Lee (xiao) and Jiang Conglin (recital). The music was composed by Tan Dun and used in the film "The Banquet"; the words are from a Cantonese folk song.
  8. Xiu Xi Yin 修禊吟 (Purification Ceremony), played by Zeng Haochen
  9. Liu Shui 流水 (Flowing Water), played by Charles Tsua
  10. Chang Ting Yuan Man 长亭怨慢 (Lament on Departure), played by Zeng Haochen
  11. Yu Qiao Wen Da 渔樵问答 (Dialogue of the Fisherman and the Woodcutter), played by Charles Tsua (guqin) and Dennis Lee (xiao)
  12. Bi Jian Liu Quan 碧涧流泉 Flowing in a Green Valley), played by Ashley Guan
  13. Qiu Feng Ci 秋風词 (Ode to Autumn), played by Xiang Zhiyun
  14. Jiu Kuang 酒狂 (The Drunkard), played by Xiang Zhiyun
  15. Ping Sha Luo Yan 平沙落雁 (Wild Geese Descending on the Level Sand), played by Hao Chen
