Meeting 8 July, 2011

Introduction

This, the 53rd meeting of the London Youlan Qin Society, was held in conjunction with the 16th Chime conference in the Handa Noh Theatre, Royal Holloway College, University of of London. Because it was a weekday evening, only a few LYQS members were able to attend. There were about 20 delegates from the Chime conference. Cheng Yu gave a short introduction to the LYQS for the benefit of the Chime delegates, before the music began. After the qin pieces, the meeting merged with the Chime "jam session". It was informal, and we all enjoyed the food which was kindly provided by the organisers.

The following music was played:

1. Meihua San Nong 梅花三弄 (Three Variations on the Plum Blossom Theme), played by Cheng Yu qinand Dennis Lee (xiao)
2. Shui 水 (Water), played by Julian Joseph
3. Bi Jian Liu Quan 碧涧流泉 (A Spring Flowing through a Green Valley), played by Ashley Guan
4. Xueshan Chunxiao 雪山春晓 (Spring Dawn on the Snow-Covered Mountain), played by Chan Fung Ying (zheng)
5. Liang Xiao 良宵 (A Pleasant Evening), played by Dennis Lee (xiao)
6. Yue'r Gao 月儿高 (The Moon is High), played by Cheng Yu qin, Chan Fung Ying (zheng) and Dennis Lee (xiao)
