Minutes

  1. The society will be called the London Youlan Qin Society. We originally thought of calling it the UK Qin Society, but Gong Yi thought London sounded more cultured, at least in China. Cheng Yu suggested Youlan. By sheer coincidence, Youlan happens to be Gong Yi's daughter's name, though we didn't know that when Cheng Yu came up with it!
  2. Two officers were unanimously elected:
  3. Gong Yi agreed to be one of our advisers.
  4. Society email addresses:
  5. Activities: Regular yajis will be held on the first Sunday of every even-numbered month. The dates may change, or additional yajis held, if circumstances dictate, e.g. qin players visiting from abroad.
  6. Initially, there will be no subscription charges as the current scope of activities does not involve any expenditure. This may change as the society grows and develops.
  7. Charity Chan of the European edition of the Singtao Daily was present. She interviewed Gong Yi and Cheng Yu and will publish an article about our society. This Hong Kong based Chinese language newspaper is read by Chinese communities worldwide.
  8. At the end of the meeting, Gong Yi played Ping Sha Luo Yan (There was not enough time left to play You Lan).
